Fear grips Syria city seized from Kurds by Turkish-backed rebels Amnesty International accuses Turkish-backed rebel groups controlling Afrin of carrying out "arbitrary arrests, kidnappings and enforced disappearances" as well as looting. Residents of Syria's Afrin region say they are suffering a litany of abuses at the hands of the rebels. In addition, parts of Afrin have been renamed to reflect its new authorities. A traffic roundabout formerly called Kawa, after the legendary blacksmith and Kurdish symbol of resistance was renamed "Olive Branch Circle," after a Turkish-led operation.
