EU's Barnier says UK has choices to make The EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier says the UK has choices to make in order to secure a Brexit deal before Christmas during a visit to Helsinki. Barnier met Finnish PM Sipila, who said his optimism that a deal can be reached has increased after his recent discussions with his UK and Irish counterparts, as well as with European Parliament President Donald Tusk. Barnier and many other EU leaders are in Helsinki for the congress of the European People’s Party, where delegates will elect their candidate to succeed Jean-Claude Juncker as Commission President.
