Czechs, Slovaks mark 100 years of Czechoslovakia Czech and Slovak leaders gather in Prague to mark 100 years of an independent Czechoslovakia, established on October 28, 1918. Czech and Slovak presidents Milos Zeman and Andrej Kiska and prime ministers Andrej Babis and Peter Pellegrini attended a wreath-laying ceremony and then a military parade with almost 3,500 soldiers and more than 800 police officers, firefighters and rescuers. The parade was also attended by US Defence Secretary James Mattis. Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, four years after ending four decades of Communist rule.IMAGES
