Migrant rescue boat in Malta denounces its impoundment The last civilian rescue ship in the Mediterranean, the Aquarius, is stuck in legal limbo off the coast of Malta with 58 migrants on board, unable to take them to port for fear of being impounded like other such boats by what they say is an illegal and concerted campaign to stop their work. The Sea-Watch 3 belonging to the eponymous German NGO has been prevented from leaving port since June and they are engaged in a legal battle with the Maltese authorities to know exactly why they cannot sail.
