Malawi's Chilima promises crackdown on corruption if elected Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima promises to bring to justice anyone who stole public money through fraud or corrupt means, if he is voted to take over power from Peter Mutharika after the May 2019 presidential election. Chilima speaks in the capital Lilongwe at the end of a national convention for a newly registered political party, UTM, which has endorsed him as its presidential candidate, after he fell out with Mutharika over disagreement on policies.
