Description
Graffiti of former president sparks controversy in Guinea In Guinea, a graffiti bearing the portrait of former President Sékou Touré is causing controversy in the capital Conakry. It is located on a symbolic bridge where people were hanged by the Sékou Touré regime on 20 January 1971. An association of victims' relatives sees it as an insult to the memory of these people. The mural depicts the heroes of African independence, and also includes portraits of Burkinabe Thomas Sankara, Ghanaian Kwame Nkrumah and Guinean Bissau Amilcar Cabral. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
