STOCKSHOTS of Pegasus Bridge in Benouville Pegasus Bridge in France's Calvados region was a critical drawbridge, the first site freed on the night of 5 June 1944 by British troops, who flew in during the night on glider aircraft hours before the main D-Day assault began.
