Thais show devotion for the king through civic voluntary acts An army of yellow-shirted volunteers dressed like scouts fan out across Thailand doing menial tasks -- a projection of unity and loyalty to the unassailable crown ahead of the coronation early in May. The volunteer program started by King Maha Vajiralongkorn in 2017 has evolved as a way for Thais -- organised by companies, state agencies, and even retirees on a local level -- to conduct acts of civic service in the new monarch's name.
