Russian journalist walks free as drugs charges are dropped Russian investigative journalist Ivan Golunov walks free after authorities in Moscow drop drug charges against him, in a rare climbdown by law enforcement following a public outcry. Golunov, a reporter with independent media outlet Meduza, departed the gates of a police building to cheering journalists who were waiting for him. A tearful Golunov thanks supporters saying "this all happened so quickly and thank you for that, that you supported me. I think it somehow influenced the course of events".
