Description
Paris honours WWII Spanish fighters who helped free the city On the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Paris from Nazi Germany, the city pays tribute to Spanish fighters of "La Nueve" company, who were the first to enter the occupied capital on August 24, 1944. They belonged to the 9th Company of the March Regiment of Chad, which was part of the French 2nd Armoured Division of General Philippe Leclerc. A mural on a building in Paris' 13th Arrondissement shows the path that those fighters followed in the city. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
