Russian council discusses legality of opposition candidate crackdown The Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights holds a meeting with political opposition candidates not registered by the Election Committee for Moscow's upcoming parliamentary elections. They discussed the legality and justification of the candidates' registrations being blocked. The night before searches and seizures took place at several candidates' apartments and most of them were summoned to the Investigation Committee as witnesses at a criminal case for preventing the Election Committee from working.
