The political film is adapted from a book written by Yanis Varoufakis who recounts the debt negotiations between Greece and the Troika while he was the Greek Minister of Finance in 2015. The film includes a scene of the awkward press conference between Varoufakis and former Eurogroup chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem who allegedly whispered in his ear that 'You have just killed the Troika' to which Varoufakis responded 'Wow'.
