Taiwanese mark Ghost Month with lanterns for the dead The beginning of Ghost Month in Taiwan was celebrated in the northeastern city of Yilan by releasing lotus water lanterns at midnight as a blessing to the dead, in addition to burning paper money stuffed in paper houses.
