60 years after the Malpasset Dam collapse, survivors are still haunted by the disaster On 2 December 1959, the Malpasset dam collapsed, releasing 50 million m3 of water into the Reyran valley seven kilometres north of Frejus on the French Riviera. 423 people were killed, including 135 children.
