Nicaraguans flock to pray to "Lord of Miracles" in El Sauce Pilgrims arrive, some on their knees, to see the Black Christ of Esquipulas in El Sauce, around 160 kilometres from Managua. Since the beginning of the 20th century, pilgrims from all Central America arrive on the third Sunday in January at the Sanctuary of the "Lord of Miracles," which houses an exact replica of the veneered Christ.
