1960: FOOTBALL NAVY WINS 17 - 12 AS CADET RALLY FAILS: At Philadelphia; one of the most stirring games in the history of the interservice football classic. Trailing 17 - 0 at half-time; Army stages a fierce rally that closes the gap to 17 - 12. Then; in the closing minutes; a final drive stalls when a fumbled pitch-out costs Army 14 yards; and a final desperation pass is intercepted on the goal line by Navy's amazing Joe Bellino who runs the ball back 45 yards to bring Navy out of the storm; to a 17 - 12 victory and an Orange Bowl bid. . . .
