Description
Patriotic Chinese are flocking to visit a newly reopened museum in Shanghai marking the site of the ruling Communist Party’s foundational meeting 100 years ago.
China is awash in party propaganda for the July 1 anniversary, and the museum in the country's biggest city has been expanded and renovated for the occasion.
The party’s first Congress – attended by 15 people, including future paramount leader Mao Zedong – was held in a small brick building in a territory that had been ceded to the French government and which is now a chic commercial, shopping and restaurant district called Xintiandi.
