Description
While there are food shortages and queues for bread in townships after widespread looting and unrest in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal, some South African farmers are struggling to sell their produce on the market.
Road blocks, business closures, and upset areas are all hurdles that farmer Katlego Mesa needs to overcome to sell his most recent harvest, the last of the past agricultural season. Mesa says that farmers need to "think out of the box," sell their produce at a loss and find new clients due to the unrests to stay adrift in a tumultuous economic moment. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
