South Korea on Thursday recorded its highest number of new coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. The country was last year held up as a model of how to control the virus, with the public largely following social distancing and other rules, but it was slow to start its vaccine rollout due to supply shortages. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said the country was "entering a fourth wave of the epidemic" after reporting 1,275 more infections, with most new cases in Seoul and its surrounding areas.
