Description
Australian rider Lachlan Morton was not selected for the Tour de France by his team EF Education - Nippo, so instead decided to do his own Tour, solo. He will ride all the stages of this 2021 edition a few days ahead of the official Tour, including the transitions between the stage towns and without any assistance, backpacking his way round the route. He plans to ride 5,500 km, compared to 3,400 km for the Tour cyclists, and to arrive in Paris at the same time as them. Lachlan Morton is using this opportunity to raise funds for the World Bicycle Relief Foundation, which makes bicycles for African countries. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
