Description
Archaeologists present a segment of an Iron Age-era wall proving for the first time ever that ancient Jerusalem was enclosed, at least on one side, by a stone bulwark. The City of David, as the biblical patriarch called Jerusalem after conquering it in the 10th century BC, was capital of the Judean Kingdom, which lasted from around from around 940 to 586 BC before being destroyed by the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar.
