Description
Dozens of immigrants, faith leaders and immigration advocates break a three-week long solidarity fast in Washington, DC, raising awareness to the status of undocumented persons in the United States and advocating for immigration reform. Over 160 fasters nationwide participated in the Fast for Freedom initiative to encourage Congress to incorporate comprehensive paths to citizenship into the upcoming jobs and infrastructure package and budget reconciliation bills. “I emigrated from my country because of the violence that existed then and is ongoing,” says Rosa Gutierrez Lopez, an undocumented resident from El Salvador, who joined the fast.
