Description
Chinggis Khaan International Airport, situated 50 km south of the Monoglian capital Ulaanbaatar, was inaugurated on Sunday. Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and Japanese ambassador Kobayashi Hiroyuki participated in the inuguration ceremony of what is now the country's largest international air facility.
The new facility was built with loans from the Japanese government and is currently 51 percent owned by a Japanese consortium. The remainder is owned by a Mongolian state-owned entity, and control will pass to the Mongolian side once it has repaid the money.
The new airport is designed to serve more than two million people per year. IMAGES
