Blue jerseys currently dot the streets of Tokyo, with Olympic volunteers encouraged to wear their uniforms at all times to create a festive atmosphere. In early June about 10,000 of the 80,000 volunteers who had stepped forward to help with the Olympics quit due to concern over the pandemic, but those remaining intend to make Tokyo cheer once the games kick off.
