Description
After working in Afghanistan for nine years for NATO and with USAID, Afghan cameraman Samim Zalmi, 35, landed in the United States in 2018 with his family to escape from the Taliban's escalating threats. He arrived on a Special Immigrant Visa -- the same document that will be the ticket to the United States for thousands of Afghans, as Washington withdraws its troops from the conflict-wracked country after 20 years. Now settled in Virginia, Zalmi earns his living as an Uber driver, but has not given up on his dream to work once again in the video industry. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES
