At Aimé Césaire airport in Martinique, tourists are returning to mainland France as a strict lockdown takes effect to stem the surge of Covid-19 cases. The Caribbean island has closed all non-essential shops, as well as hotels and holiday rentals, and asked tourists to leave. Beaches are also closed and people can only go within a one-kilometre radius of their homes.
