Los Angeles County voters are casting early ballots to decide whether to replace California's Democratic governor before his term ends. At the helm of California since 2019, Gavin Newsom has been criticized by some voters, particularly Republicans, for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. It is thanks to a similar referendum that the actor Arnold Schwarzenegger had been elected, on behalf of the Republican party, at the head of the most populous state of the United States, which traditionally votes Democrat.
