While the fourth wave of Covid-19 is on a downward trend in France, the intensive care units of the Lyon Sud hospital are far from empty, with "younger and unvaccinated" patients infected with the Delta variant and nurses becoming overwhelmed. In one of the buildings of the 80-hectare hospital center spread over three municipalities near Lyon, nearly 40% of the 41 beds in the three intensive care and continuous surveillance units are occupied by serious cases linked to the virus.
