Description
Ceramic artist Rustem Skybin was born in Uzbekistan where his family was deported under Stalin. In the mid-1990s, Skybin, now 45, returned to the peninsula of Crimea, only to bid farewell to his ancestral home once again nearly 20 years later. The ceramist is one of thousands of Crimean Tatars who opposed Moscow's takeover of the peninsula in 2014 and fled to mainland Ukraine together with his loved ones. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
