Saturday September 6, 1958
Among the many Fiesta parades around town over the weekend was this spirited gathering Saturday which marched through Old Town. A troop of boy scouts joined some of the old-time residents of the area and of course, what parade would be a parade without a young lady like this. A scout band provided the music while the baton twirlers were not far behind. A little of everything including the inevitable man who came too late.
Another weekend fiesta parade wound its way down Garnet Street in Pacific Beach Saturday night as thousands of persons lined the sidewalks to watch. Plenty of pretty girls, many of them queens from other parts of the city. Many mounted riders decked out in their finery…more than 60 marching units and floats. Many of the floats appeared last week in the big pageant parade. One of the big crowd pleasers were the midget autos driven by youngsters. Sometimes at a parade, it’s as much fun to watch the kids who’re watching the parade.
