"They no longer have any desire to work in these large maternity hospitals where the daily work is difficult": at Port-Royal maternity hospital, the largest in Paris, fledgling midwives do not stay long, leaving the hospital with a staffing problem which trickles down to existing staff, making the job stressful and even less attractive.
