The deputy editor of Russia's leading independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, Kirill Martynov, says the award of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the Gazeta's editor Dmitry Muratov comes at at a "critically important" moment after an unprecedented crackdown on independent media in Russia this year, leaving journalists facing a "struggle for survival". He says the paper did not expect the award and that "this is one of the happiest days of our lives". His editor, Dmitry Muratov, dedicated his Nobel Peace Prize to the paper's contributors who were slain for their work. SOUNDBITES
