Artist Hamlet Lavastida and journalist Karla Perez are two of the dozens of Cubans forced into exile by the government. Lavastida, who now lives in Berlin, was arrested in June upon returning from a trip to Germany and says he was given the option of 15 to 18 years of prison or living in exile. Perez was not allowed to return to Cuba after her studies abroad for having alleged links to the opposition and now lives in Tibas, Costa Rica. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
