In a satellite telephone interview, spokesman for the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) Getachew Reda says "the story that the population in Addis is vehemently opposed to us is absolutely overstated," whilst TPLF fighters and their allies remain locked in a year-long war that has killed thousands and pushed many more into desperate conditions in Ethopia.
