Colleagues of a policeman attacked with a knife in Cannes are praised for showing "extraordinary reflexes" by Laurent Martin de Frémont, departmental secretary of the Unité-SGP FO national police union in the Alpes-Maritimes. The officer survived but De Frémont says "the job has become extremely difficult" and that some colleagues are so disheartened with restrictions on policing they would "prefer to go and sell chips".
