As experts warn of more powerful cyclones fuelled by climate change, a group of women in the Sundarbans – one of the world's largest mangrove forests - are planting thousands of saplings with the help of a non-profit. The mangrove saplings will expand the vital site. According to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), mangroves protect coastlines from erosion and extreme weather events, improve water quality by filtering, and serve as nurseries for many marine creatures. They also help fight climate change -- sequestering as much as 22.8 million tons of carbon each year in their leaves, trunks, roots and the soil. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
