Description
The former mayor of Dakar, Khalifa Sall, who is part of the opposition coalition Yewwi Askan Wi ("Let's liberate the people" in Wolof), calls for people "to rise up to protect democracy" as pre-election tensions spread to the Senegalese capital Dakar. Two staunch opponents of the government, Ousmane Sonko and Barthélémy Dias, were arrested in clashes that raised the spectre of the March riots. SOUNDBITE
