A sovereign Europe will be "key" to the next German government's foreign policy, incoming chancellor Olaf Scholz says as three parties sealed a deal to form the country's next ruling coalition. "It is our task as an economically strong and populous country in the heart of Europe to enable, promote and advance this sovereign Europe," he added as his Social Democrats presented a coalition contract with the Greens and the liberal FDP.
