The Alkales have no papers because in September, the Danish Migration Court confirmed that the family should return to Damascus, which they deem to be "safe". But they have been refugees in Denmark since 2014 . Now neither parent can work and the chidlren are no longer in school - they just wait while their lawyer files new asylum applications. Bilal Alkale says he doesn't "know what (he) needs to do". Many observers, including Amnesty International, and members of the public are calling on the Danish authorities to reverse the decision to withdraw the residence permits of some Syrian refugees.
