Japan's Ground Self-Defence Force Northern Army holds its annual live fire shooting match by Type 90 tank regiments in Hokkaido. Japan's defence ministry is seeking a record $6.7 billion additional spending this financial year to speed up purchases of military equipment, citing the "increasingly severe" regional security environment. Noting challenges posed by China and North Korea, the ministry says the regional security situation is becoming "increasingly severe at an unprecedented speed." IMAGES
