Description
The Congolese are united by their love for rumba, the origins of which can be traced back to the Democratic Republic of the Congo's ancient kingdom.
The country is waiting for UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) to decide whether Congolese rumba will be included in the Lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
"Rumba is a passion shared by all Congolese [...]. It is tentacular, in all areas of national life," says Professor André Yoka Lye, director of the National Institute of Arts (INA) in Kinshasa. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
