Description
NASA's new James Webb Space Telescope, the most powerful space observatory ever built which is set for launch in late December, will be operated by scientists and engineers at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. "We hope to observe the first stars forming, the first assembly of galaxies. And so, we will learn much about how the universe began," astronomer Scott Friedman explains. His colleague, scientist Klaus Pontoppidan, says he is "very excited about exoplanet atmospheres, in particular measurements of atmospheres around stars... that maybe may host life."
