With less than 50 days until the 2022 Winter Olympics, the artificial snowmaking process gets underway at the National Alpine Skiing Center in Yanqing, a suburb about 75 kilometres (50 miles) northwest of Beijing. The deputy manager of the mountain operation at the National Alpine ski center, Li Xin, says that the entire snowmaking process follows a very "strict" process that ensures environmental protection. The National Alpine Skiing Centre and the National Sliding Centre, both located in Yanqing, will host the alpine skiing, bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton competitions at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.
