Seeking to capitalise on heightened awareness of sport ahead of next month's Beijing Olympics, China moved in recent months to push for more physical activity for pupils. The drive also opens up new career options for former athletes, many of whom remain as coaches in the state system or are recruited to law-enforcement roles due to their fitness.
