Description
In a long-abandoned village in divided Cyprus's UN buffer zone, scientists from both sides of the island study biodiversity to show how the planet's embattled environment can recover if given a chance. While their respective leaders remain at loggerheads, the shared wildlife of the island has helped plant the seed of cooperation between the two sides. The buffer zone covers some three percent of the island, 180 kilometres (112 miles) long and up to eight kilometres (five miles) wide. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
