Description
Sitting on the dusty floor of a centuries-old madrassa in Balkh, northern Afghanistan, Habibullah chants a poem by Sufi mystic Jalaluddin Rumi.
His voice echoes across the grounds of the religious school once held by the father of the 13th century Persian poet, before he and his family were forced to flee when Genghis Khan and his Mongal hordes sacked the city in 1221.
They fled to Turkey where Rumi spent most of his life.
