Sounds of heavy gunfire and helicopters ring out across the night sky as US special operations forces carry out a raid against suspected jihadists in northwestern Syria. The resulting clashes lasted for several hours and killed at least nine people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. At first light, pools of blood were left behind at a severely damaged home that appeared to be targeted during the raid. IMAGES
