Description
Thousands of migratory birds have not made their yearly stop off in Albania's Divjaka national park, experts say, pointing to climate change, overfishing, and urbanisation as likely factors keeping the annual visitors at bay. Surveying the park's flocks of Dalmatian pelicans and pink flamingos, National Park Director Ardian Koci says "some 9,000 birds are missing compared to the previous year" as a result of global warming, whilst ornithologist Mirjan Topi claims some species of migratory birds, including the greylag goose, are "almost no longer present" at the park during the Albanian winter.
