The World Health Organization set up a global mRNA technology transfer hub in South Africa in 2021 to support manufacturers in low- and middle-income countries to produce their own Covid-19 vaccines. The WHO said Friday six African countries have been chosen to establish their own mRNA vaccine production. Currently the continent of 1.3 billion people only produces one percent of its vaccines.
