A conflict in Ukraine will not only threaten Europe's energy supplies, but could also indirectly hit US energy markets and prices, says Jonathan Elkind, a senior research scholar at Columbia University’s Center for Global Energy Policy and a former energy official in the Clinton and Obama administrations. "You're starting from a period of elevated prices, and you could be seeing more of them," Elkind says. Cyber-attacks on infrastructure could also potentially impact the US economy, Elkind adds.
